Big Time Little League Returns

Ancaster Little League has won the bid to host the 2019 Canadian Little League Baseball Championship.
Teams of 11 and 12 year olds from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and the host Ancaster Little League will compete for the right to represent Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport Pa.
The 10-day tournament will be played at the Ancaster Little League Park Tournament Diamond located on Jerseyville Road in Ancaster.
This will be Ancaster’s second time hosting the National Little League Championship. Ancaster last hosted the Championship in 2010 and has built a strong reputation as a community recognized for its dedication to sport and has welcomed an impressive variety of successful Provincial and National Baseball events throughout the years.
Last year in East Nepean, the host Eagles got to the National Championship game before losing to the British Columbia Champion White Rock Little League. White Rock advanced to Williamsport as the Canadian Champion, and went 0-3 in the tournament with being eliminated by the Asia Pacific Champion.
“We are looking forward to hosting the Hundreds of Competitors, Coaches, Spectators, and Volunteers as well as this great opportunity for players who have continued with our Little League program to showcase their talents in front of the hometown crowd and the rest of Canada,” said Mark Strongman, President of Ancaster Little League.
“For many of these young players, competing in this tournament will provide them an experience of a lifetime. Win or lose, we want the players to always remember the time they spent in Ancaster in 2019, the fond experiences, the fun they had, the friendships they made, and the hospitality of the community of Ancaster. “
“This event is a significant undertaking for our League and can only be successful with the generous support of our volunteers and the financial support of the Ancaster business community. We are currently in the planning stages and are actively looking for sponsorship to help support this event.”
