2016 Intermediate (13U) Provincial Championship

Oakville Little League is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 2016 Intermediate (13U) Little League Provincial Championships.
“We are delighted to be hosting a Provincial Championship once again” said John Sweeney, President of Oakville Little League. “This tournament provides us once again an opportunity to showcase the fine young athletes of Oakville and from across the Province, as well as, providing the opportunity to showcase the beautiful Town of Oakville and Oakville Little League.” In 2015, the league hosted a significant Major (12U) Provincial Championship which is part of the Road to the Little League World Series hosted by Little League International in Williamsport PA. Building on the success of running many District and Provincial tournaments at all levels, Oakville Little League is delighted to showcase the League and the Town of Oakville yet again.
“I am excited about the opportunity to coach the team but also to provide our Whitecaps with an opportunity to compete in the Provincials for the right to represent Ontario at the Intermediate Canadians in Lethbridge Alberta” said Nick Rigato, head coach of the host team Oakville Whitecaps.
Nick Rigato was the first coach in the history of Oakville Little League to manage an All-Star team that earned the right to go to the Junior World Series in Taylor Michigan in 2015. The excitement and energy that our 2015 Junior Whitecaps team brought to the league and the Town of Oakville as they advanced through the Provincials and the Canadians on to the World Series was second to none.
The Intermediate Provincial Championship will be held in early July at River Oaks Park located on Sixth Line.
“Our objective is to make this tournament one of the best hosted tournaments in Ontario in 2016” added Sweeney, “For many of these young people, competing in this tournament will provide them an experience of a lifetime. Win or lose, we want the players to always remember the time they spent in Oakville in 2016, the fond experience and fun they had, the friendships they made, and the hospitality of Oakville.”
“This event is a significant undertaking for our League and can only be successful with the generous support of our volunteers and the financial support of the Oakville business community” said John Mooney, Vice President of Baseball Operations for Oakville Little League. “We are currently in the planning stages and are actively looking for sponsorship to help support this event.” The league is becoming well known for hosting major tournaments with a focus on putting on the best tournament week for the players.
